Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium
A new FieldTurf playing surface was installed along with a new Daktronics video display scoreboard prior to the 2013 season at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium.
The scoreboard, which was made possible with the help of a gift from PPI (Precision Pulley & Idler, Inc.) of Pella, measures 27 feet wide by 35 feet, 6 inches tall, including a video display board that’s 21 feet, 7 inches wide and 12 feet tall.
A new entrance and spectator plaza behind the seating areas debuted in 2015.
“We’re really excited about what is happening at Schipper Stadium,” said football coach Jeff McMartin. “These are improvements that will benefit the players but will also improve the experience for fans. This will make game day really special.
“I like what we have to offer now with our facilities and our field. We’ve got some great things going on and this puts us in a good place.”
The site of 18 NCAA Div. III football playoff games and six Iowa Conference track and field meets, the stadium opened in 1977 as A.N. Kuyper Stadium.
TRACK
An eight-lane, 400-meter BSS 1000 polyurethane track was installed prior to the 2007 season. The track incorporates wider turns, dual runways for the jumping events as well as a two-way pole vault runway.
The track features an energy-return system to produce faster times but less stress on joints so it is ideal for daily training.
Adjacent to the stadium, the college recently installed new shot put and discus rings, a new hammer throw cage and javelin staging area.
