Cross country course

Central's on-campus cross country course opened in 2004 and is the site of the season-opening Central Invitational each year.

The course can be set up for 4,000, 5,000, 6,000 and 8,000-meter races and is one of the only on-campus courses in Iowa. Central's course traverses a wide variety of terrain.

The annual Central Dutch Invitational in early September also includes high school boys and girls events in addition to college men's and women's races. The course also hosts the Heartland Classic, featuring some of the top high school teams in the region, each fall.

Central's course has also served as the site of the NCAA Division III Cross Country Central Regional and Iowa Conference championship meets. Since 2006 it has played host to two Iowa high school district championship meets.
