Logan Lursen
Mason City, Iowa
Class of 2027

Why did you chose Central?

I chose Central because of the opportunity to play football, further my education in strength and conditioning and kinesiology. As well as being able to work with/communicate with the professors on a personable level.

Favorite professor and why?

Dr. Bradley, he has always been willing to meet and talk about any questions I have. School related or not. He gave me the opportunity to do summer research with a force plate and allowed me to meet with multiple individuals he knows that are in places from Division 1 FBS football programs to the NFL. Causing my tree of connections to only grow that much more granting me more opportunities for myself.

You’re majoring in Strength and Conditioning because?

Central has a highly accredited Strength and Conditioning program that is known across the nation. From that I can build connections in places all over the country to grant me opportunities for success anywhere I go. But more importantly for me it has allowed me to further my gift of impacting those I surround myself with. The abilities I have allow me to push others past limits they never thought possible and can show themselves what they are capable of not just physically but also mentally.

Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?

I am a Strength and Conditioning Intern and a Student Trustee.

Who are your go-to musical artists?

Audioslave, Mötley Crüe, Waylon Jennings, Eagles, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Kanye West, and Kid Cudi

How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?

It has granted me a tremendous opportunity to be able to lead. While also giving me the ability to work with a team through challenging times. And form relationships with my teammates that will never fade.

What did you learn from interning at Penn State football this summer?

I learned that I can make an impact anywhere I go. I am capable of putting myself in challenging scenarios and making the most out of every little thing. Not getting so caught up in the end goal but enjoying the parts of the process along the way. I also advanced my knowledge in Strength and Conditioning immensely by being able to see things through a completely knew lense.

Pick your Family Feud team from Central football teammates

My Family Feud team would be Clay Saak, Jase Grunder, Tate Mayberry, and Cam Schulte

Favorite professional sports team

Pittsburgh Pirates

What’s your number one pet peeve?

Wet socks, drives me absolutely nuts.

Favorite TV Show

Star Wars The Clone Wars

What’s it like to compete for Coach McMartin?

Its been an absolute blessing. It has given me the mindset that no matter what happens the most important moment is what’s coming next. Building a next play mentality to have the next play be my best. And that it doesn’t have to be done alone. My teammates are just as hungry as I. They are going through the same trials and tribulations to achieve a goal greater than individual success.

What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central’s football team?

Creating personable relationships with 100+ guys that will always be in each other’s corner no matter what life throws at us.

What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?

Fulfilling the purpose that God has planned for me, no matter the place. And being a husband for a beautiful wife and father of a family that is beyond my imagination.

Favorite food from Central Market

Brisket Quesadilla, I get at least two every time it’s a necessity.
