Why did you chose Central?

I chose Central because of the strong sense of community that I felt while on my visit here. I could tell that the school had good hearted people and when I got to know them better and better it really solidified my choice to go here. They also have great academics for my interests and Coach Jim Fuller was very influential in helping with my decision.

Favorite professor and why?

I’ve loved all of mine honestly but if I had to choose one, I’d say Dr. B has been one of my favorites because he was my first ever college professor and I loved the way he taught classes with concise but very interesting notes on the biology of our world.

You’re majoring in biology/environmental and sustainability studies because?

I’ve always had a love for nature and the way that organisms came about and function. I found during my time here that my interest is especially peaked in genetics, and I’ve just always geeked out about how DNA shapes the person that we are, despite being so small.

Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?

I’ve been a part of a Bible study with some of the other track athletes and that’s been incredible to see how we’ve grown in faith over the years and have grown in number since the start.

Who are your go-to musical artists?

Travis Scott, Tame Impala, Elvis Presley, Mac Miller, Logic, Nirvana

How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?

Being a part of this team has kept me consistent as a person and allowed me to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually alongside my teammates. It’s been incredible to be able to do every kind of workout with them and being in track and field has helped keep me humble and focused on God through my successes and hardships in the sport.

How did you get your start hurdling?

My Dad made me go out for track when I was in 7th grade, and I thought that it would just be a bunch of running and a waste of my time. But I picked up the hurdles well early on one day at practice and have been doing it ever since!

What’s your hidden talent?

I can spin a basketball on my finger well and do tricks (Spin record is 4.5 minutes)

Teammate you could win the Amazing Race with?

Cor Huyser, I feel like he’d do whatever it takes to win and would be a great partner for something like that.

What is your favorite thing to spend money on?

Either buying Legos or going out to eat

Favorite TV Show

The Office, I’ve watched it probably 17 times now (my favorite episodes are the ones with the Michael Scott Paper Company)

What’s it like to work with coach Jim Fuller?

Coach Fuller has had an incredible impact on my life. He’s been more like a friend to me than a coach, and he’s helped me through every hardship in my collegiate career and still showed me respect and love through it all. He’s one of the kindest people I have ever met, and he has genuinely formed me into the person that I am today.

What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central Track and Field?

The people on the team make it amazing. I love sitting in the dining hall with them and just talking or playing games and just enjoying the presence of everyone around me. The memories I’ve made with these guys will last the rest of my life and I’m just so thankful for every one of them.

What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?

I’d like to be doing some kind of research in the field of Genetics. I don’t know if the plans are to stay in Iowa or not, just going to do and go wherever God guides me!

Favorite food from Central Market

I’m a sucker for white rice and bourbon chicken. I think that every time there’s been white rice served here in my 4 years that I’ve gotten it.

Bucket list

Travel to Scotland and visit the filming sites for the Harry Potter movies
